Yesterday Laura Dekker left the Netherlands to start her solo sail trip around the world (see also my other post) and tomorrow I’ll prepare my sail trip. OK, it’s not that spectacular as Laura’s sail trip is. But for me it’s also a special tour. My parents will visit me tomorrow. After one night staying at my house we’ll leave Amsterdam on Saturday to travel to Enkhuizen. There we’ll enter the Broedertrouw, a 2 mast sail ship which is 34 meter long and sailed by skipper Arno and sailor Saskia. We’ll be leaving Enkhuizen on Saturday and will return to Enkhuizen Saturday, 15th of august.

Today the 14 year old Laura Dekker left her home harbor Brouwershaven (Zeeland) together with her father. At first they sail together to Portugal with Laura’s 11.5 meter sail yacht called Guppy. On their way to Portugal they will do several checks with the boat as well as with the equipment. From Portugal Laura will start her tour sailing around the world on her own. If everything went right she will be the youngest person who sailed around the world in history.

I just arrived at home from my daily sail trip. Today we had nearly no wind in Amsterdam. Therefore I thought these must be the perfect weather conditions for me as starter. I had to know it better. How could I forget what my sister told me a few years ago? She works as a snowboard instructor. And she told me that she sends all starter not to the lazy idiot course but well to the blue course. I asked her if she didn’t aspect to much from her beginners. She told me: “They’ll learn it better under real conditions.”

Thanks to my dad since today his sail boat which is now more or less my sail boat lays at the Gaasperplas here in Amsterdam. Since last week I’m a member of the ZVG zeilvereniging gaasperplas, the sail club Gaasperplas. From tomorrow on I will start teach sailing by myself. I’m very happy about having a boat that close to my new living place. Within 20 till 30 minutes I can reach the boat via Metro and bike. And because I got an own key for the terrain I can sail as much and when every I want to.

I knew that this will happen. But I don’t thought that it would happen that fast. Someone has stolen my bike. Well, that’s Amsterdam. The city of tiny canals, buy-able love, weed and mushrooms. But let me explain what happen in detail.
