Last Sunday one of my new roommates came back from Belgium with the repaired motor of our boat. After we installed and tested the motor on Monday I thought by myself to take a ride on the canals of Amsterdam. Yesterday, after work, I took the boat and shipped to the Anne Frank House to pick up my business partner and his girl friend. To act environmentally friendly I decide to cut of the power of the motor as long as I stopped to wait for my two guests. After they arrived I started the motor holding an electricity cable to the ignition plug. Just when I bend ahead I heard a ‘FLASH’. My first thought was F?!@K$%!!! .
Two days ago I moved to my new room on a house boat next to the Amstel. It’s a two storied boat which I share with three other guys. Three of us (including me) are living in the basement. That means that I sleep approximately 1.5 meter below the water line. On the first floor we have a room which is a combination of kitchen, dining room and living room. Furthermore we have a little terrace which we will fill with sand next week. Well, than we’ll have out personal beach next to the Amstel.
After living nearly one year in Amsterdam Zuid-Oost it’s time to move forward as well as closer to the city again. The last weeks I visited a couple of objects when suddenly a friend told me that his room mate is going to leave their place in September. A few days later he told me that the room will be free even in April. And the best thing is the room is not only closer to the city but also on a house boat. For me as a sailor this is the place to be. So I count the last days in Zuid-Oost before I’ll move to the boat in April.

Because of much work as well as a sailing trip on the Wadden Sea I haven’t been sailing for a few weeks. Today I thought: “Well, now I have time, hard wind and I’m really motivated!” Therefore after work I went directly to my boat to sail a bit.
