Next week I participate on my first sail race. I’m really very surprised about that! Unfortunately I totally forgot to care about safety equipment. OK, I’m not crossing the Atlantic ocean. Therefore the safety equipment must not be that extreme. But never underestimate the power of wind and water. Even in coastal areas. It’s nearly impossible to swim back to the coast in that time of the year even if the distance is one or two kilometers. In the swimming pool I easily can swim one km. But in the open water? Here the scene looks completely different.
That is the reason why I just ordered my first life jacket. For sure, I would never order a life jacket for one single race. But I also planed to start sailing here in Amsterdam. Therefore I have to invest in a life jacket any way. And now it is quite clever to buy one, I guess. The picture of the side shows my new life jacket. It’s a Comfort Navy of Helly Hanson.
